Organized on December 9, 2025 in Besançon by POLYMERIS, the French competitive cluster dedicated to polymers, composites and plastics, the “Digital Factory” Scientific Day brought together manufacturers, laboratories, equipment suppliers and digital solutions providers to explore the changes underway in the industry.
The day was structured around a program designed to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the digital levers available to the industry. The presentations covered a number of major themes, structured into four main sections : innovative materials and behavioral prediction, European initiatives, advanced process monitoring, and a technical tour dedicated to polymer shaping technologies.
Among the morning’s highlights was a round table discussion on the challenges and issues of digital transition in the polymer industry, featuring Léo Cacciari (Amiltone), Gerold Schröpfer (CEA-List) and Philippe Lucien Prandini (VASI).
The discussion, which was particularly fluid and stimulating for the audience, was structured around three main themes – Why transit, Demystifying AI and How to do it? – giving Gerold Schröpfer the opportunity to present the role of CEA-List, the PRISM platform and above all the European AI-MATTERS initiative in supporting industry.
Through these exchanges, the round table provided a clear and operational vision of the tools, expertise and support available to help the polymer industry take the next step in its digital transformation.
This edition of the “Digital Factory” Scientific Day helped to forge new links between participants and to fuel shared reflection on the challenges of digital transformation. It provided a solid starting point for developing joint projects to promote innovation in the polymer industry.
