France
In AI Matters project

The French node is situated at the heart of the Paris-Saclay innovation ecosystem, on the NanoINNOV campus, with CEA List serving as the coordinator.

As part of CEA‘s Technological Research Division, CEA List focuses on interdisciplinary research in fields including responsible AI, intelligent robotics, digital instrumentation, software engineering, and systems science.

This node is supported by the PRISM platform, which unites industrial partners and provides cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.

Our equipment

Main equipment

Laboratory and equipment for testing and experimenting with robotics and AI:

  • Digital Twin platform
  • Petaflop-class supercomputers designed to run AI applications at massive scale.
  • Additive manufacturing unit

Planned investments/infrastructure deployment

A budget of €2m has been allocated to setting up pilot lines for logistics, assembly and disassembly operations, covering an area of 1,500 m². This space includes experimentation areas as well as an immersive environment dedicated to digital twin applications and software engineering.

Subsequent infrastructure deployment: integrated pilot lines for manufacturing operations.

Our services

AI-MATTERS offers a wide range of services, regularly updated to meet the ever-changing needs and expectations of European industry. Our services are available to all companies based in Europe.

Human-robot interaction

Human-robot interaction, including cobotic systems, robots equipped with artificial intelligence, digital twins, intelligent gripping technologies, vision systems, NLP technologies for robot programming, and virtual reality (VR) for learning technical gestures.

Factory-level optimization

Industrial optimisation, including the use of simulation to improve production lines, process planning and monitoring, experimentation with connectivity solutions, and evaluation of autonomous driving of AMRs in specific industrial environments.

Circular economy

Circular economy, such as test beds for automatic disassembly, the use of digital twins for product traceability, and additive manufacturing.

The PRISM platform offers a flexible infrastructure and adaptable technologies, enabling the development and evaluation of artificial intelligence-based solutions for the manufacturing industry.

Illustrative services already in place

The French Node provides services to support companies in experimenting with cutting-edge technologies and developing innovative solutions.

Collaborative robotics

Evaluation of a collaborative system for manufacturing tasks such as inspection, sanding, finishing, picking and placing.

Industrial robots

Evaluation of object recognition and pose estimation algorithms, followed by a comparison of gripping technologies and concepts.

AI for AI for decision-making

Use of an AI algorithm for autonomous decision-making, to enable a system or robot to make a decision and act in a given situation.
